The Pros and Cons of Pokémon Legends Arceus: Is It Worth your Time?

Hello, Pokémon fans! Today I’m going to share with you my thoughts on Pokemon Legends Arceus.

This game is a prequel to the main series, set in the ancient region of Hisui, where you can explore a vast open world and catch wild Pokemon in real time. Sounds exciting, right? Well, let me tell you, this game is a mixed bag of awesome and awful. Why?

Here are some of the pros and cons of Pokemon Legends Arceus.

Pros:

The graphics are stunning

The game looks like a painting come to life, with beautiful landscapes, realistic lighting and shadows, and detailed textures. The Pokemon models are also impressive, with smooth animations and expressive reactions. The game truly captures the feeling of being in a natural environment, where you can see the weather change, the seasons cycle, and the wildlife interact.

The gameplay is innovative

The game breaks away from the traditional turn-based battles and linear routes of the main series, and instead lets you roam freely and encounter Pokemon in real time. You can sneak up on them, throw Poke Balls at them, or engage them in combat using your own Pokemon. You can also use different types of Poke Balls, such as heavy balls or smoke balls, to suit different situations. The game also introduces new features such as crafting items, riding Pokemon, and completing quests for the villagers.

The story is intriguing

The game takes place in a time when humans and Pokemon lived in harmony, before the invention of Poke Balls and modern technology. You play as a member of the Galaxy Team, an organization that aims to create the first Pokedex of Hisui. Along the way, you will meet various characters, such as Professor Laventon, who studies ancient Pokemon; Commander Komodo, who leads the Galaxy Team; and Captain Celia, who guides you on your missions. You will also encounter mysterious phenomena, such as the noble Pokemon that guard the region, and the dark force that threatens to destroy it.

Cons:

The game is buggy

The game suffers from frequent glitches and crashes that can ruin your experience. Some of the bugs include: disappearing Pokemon, invisible walls, frozen screens, corrupted saves, and endless loading times. The game also has performance issues, such as low frame rates, laggy controls, and long loading times. The game is clearly not optimized for the Switch hardware, and it shows.

The game is repetitive

The game lacks variety and challenge in its gameplay. Most of the quests are fetch quests or kill quests that require you to collect items or defeat enemies in exchange for rewards. The battles are also easy and boring, as most of the wild Pokemon are weak and predictable. The game does not offer much incentive to explore or experiment with different strategies or play styles.

The game is incomplete

The game feels like a beta version that was rushed to release. The game has many missing features and content that were promised or expected by fans. For example: there is no online multiplayer mode; there is no post-game content; there are no mega evolutions or Z-moves; there are only 200 Pokemon available; and there are many regions and locations that are inaccessible or unfinished.

Overall:

Pokemon Legends Arceus is a game that has a lot of potential but also a lot of flaws. It is a bold attempt to reinvent the franchise and offer a new experience to fans. However, it is also a disappointing product that fails to deliver on its promises and expectations. It is a game that I would recommend only to hardcore fans who are willing to overlook its shortcomings and appreciate its strengths. For casual players or newcomers, I would suggest waiting for a patch or a price drop before buying it.

After considering the pros and cons of Pokemon Legends Arceus, I would give this game a rating of 6 out of 10.
